On heritage, craftsmanship, and the poetry of childhood.

We were recently invited by Playtime Magazine to speak about the savoir-faire behind THE LiTTLE POETS, sharing the inspirations, craftsmanship, and stories that shape everything we create.
A shorter version of the interview can be read on Playtime Magazine’s platform here: Savoir Faire
Founded in Portugal in 2024, THE LiTTLE POETS began as the shared dream of three close friends, mothers, creatives, and storytellers united by a belief in the quiet magic of childhood. Our roots are deeply Mediterranean, shaped by warmth, nostalgia, and the timeless beauty of everyday moments.
At the heart of our work lies a desire to capture the poetry of childhood. Its innocence, imagination, and emotion inspire garments that blend heritage with a contemporary sensibility. Each piece we create carries a story, weaving together the past and the present, tradition and modern childhood.

Behind the brand are three founders whose perspectives and experiences form the soul of THE LiTTLE POETS.
Our Creative Director, Ana Zilhão, mother of two, spent more than a decade working as a fashion photographer for renowned children’s brands. Her background in photography and advertising shapes the visual language of THE LiTTLE POETS. The aesthetic is cinematic, emotional, and deeply human. Through her poetic eye and authentic voice, she shares the world of the brand with warmth and sincerity.
Inês Camaño Garcia, co-founder and Head of Quality Control & Product Development, is a mother of three with over seventeen years of experience in the textile industry. Having previously founded a children’s brand and now pursuing a PhD in children’s fashion, Inês brings meticulous attention to detail and a deep devotion to craftsmanship. Her work ensures that every garment reflects the balance, beauty, and integrity we strive for.
Completing the trio is Joana Neves, our CFO and Brand Architect. With more than a decade of experience in retail concept design as a professional architect, Joana contributes a unique perspective to the brand. Her deep understanding of Portuguese culture and artisanal heritage helps translate our story into form, from the atmosphere of a collection to the dream of designing THE LiTTLE POETS’ future flagship store.

A defining element of our work is the reinterpretation of traditional Portuguese dress. Our savoir-faire was born from curiosity and affection, from a genuine desire to understand the roots of Portuguese craftsmanship and reinterpret them for today’s world, especially for children.
We often speak about what we call “historical sustainability.” For us, it means preserving not only the motifs and silhouettes of traditional garments, but also the patience, techniques, and artistry behind them. Historically, these pieces were created with intention and carried personal meaning for the people who wore them.
Rather than simply preserving tradition, we seek to transform it. Children themselves embody that spirit. They are spontaneous, instinctive, and beautifully free. Through that lens, heritage becomes something alive again, playful, expressive, and relevant to the present.
All of our production takes place in Portugal, from the first sketches drawn by our founders to the final garment. We collaborate closely with exceptional ateliers and factories across the country, working with artisans whose dedication to quality and craftsmanship reflects the values at the heart of our brand.

For us, innovation does not mean leaving our identity behind. Instead, it grows naturally through storytelling. Each collection begins with a narrative, a thread of memory, emotion, and imagination that gradually takes form through fabrics, silhouettes, and craft.
Our savoir-faire lives in these quiet gestures: the way a fabric moves, the rhythm of a needle, and the dialogue between tradition and modernity.
Above all, it is an act of devotion. Devotion to craft, to memory, to beauty, and to childhood itself.
Every piece carries a trace of the hands that shaped it and a whisper of the past reimagined for the children of today.
